On selected tours, we offer the stylish 'GMS 1' - Lounge/Observation carriage.

Upgrade your fare when booking, and you have the opportunity of riding in one of the more elegant passenger carriages on Australian rails today.

Seating just 30 passengers in privileged lounge chair comfort, non-airconditioned car 'GMS 1' offers classic styling, rich timber panelling, opening windows, a small kitchen and the opportunity to watch the world go by from the rear-facing Observation Platform (when 'GMS 1' is marshalled as the rear car of the train).

A service of morning and afternoon refreshments is offered direct to your seat.

By day, there's a comfortable lounge seat, plenty of space and a table for two - at night twin berths are prepared with linen and blankets for a restful night on the rails. There's a hot shower at one end of the car (towels and soap provided on overnight journeys) and a retention toilet.
